2018 PSAI Underwater Cleanup 海底清潔日

After the destruction and damages done to Hong Kong by the super typhoon Mangkhut, we organized more than 30 divers to perform an underwater cleanup in East Dam, Sai Kung. With everyone's enthusiastic participation and full effort, we collected over 7 bags/49KG of plastic bottles, 3 bags/27KG of ghost net, 1 piece of surf board, a huge plastic bottle used in Water Dispenser, 1 big box of styrofoam and 1KG of other trashes. From this data, plastics is the major problem to our ocean. We thank each and every one of you for the cleanup work and through this event, we hope to spread the news of saving the ocean by using less plastics and waste reduction so that we can protect our earth together!

颱風山竹襲港一役，讓我們更深刻地明白源頭減廢的急切性。當日天氣晴朗，我們一行三十多人，一大清早便浩浩蕩蕩地開船出發。當我們抵達潛點：西貢東霸之後，潛水員便急不及待地戴上手套、帶著網袋下水執行清潔任務！在大家一輪又一輪的努力之下，大有所「獲」，其中包括：塑膠/7袋/共49 公斤、鬼網/3袋/共27公斤、其他/1袋/共2公斤、還有滑水板一塊，飲水機用膠樽一個，及一大箱發泡膠。從以上簡單的廢物分類可見，塑膠實在是污染海洋的一大元兇。我哋由衷感謝當日參與了海底清潔工作的一眾潛水員，並希望大家能夠把「守護海洋、從源頭減廢做起」的訊息廣傳開去，讓我們一起為守護地球加油！
